About BCD

Birds Coffee Donuts is a gravel ride series exploring the Denver/Boulder area through the lens of three essential elements:

  • 🐦 Birds - Birding along the route with field guides and bingo cards
  • ☕ Coffee - Primo coffee stop discoveries
  • 🍩 Donuts - Donut shop destinations (especially YA YA’s apple cider donuts)

The Philosophy

“Is this serious? Yes for the birds, no for everything else.”

We combine legitimate ornithology with the joy of gravel cycling. Routes are designed to maximize bird habitat diversity, coffee shop quality, and donut accessibility.

Join a Ride

Rides are announced through our WhatsApp group. We typically have 6-19 riders per ride.

  • Difficulty: Varies (typically 50-100 miles)
  • Surface: 40-50% unpaved
  • Pace: Casual but NOT a “no-drop” ride
  • Spirit: Lo-La vibes - fun, casual, community-focused

The Data

We take this very seriously. Each ride includes:

  • Mile-by-mile birding guides
  • Coffee-to-bird ratios
  • Elevation vs species frequency analysis
  • AI-generated field illustrations
  • Interactive bingo cards for species tracking
